How it works:
Sleep is within hands reach
Dodow is a metronome with a light system that reteaches you how to fall asleep naturally, without taking any medicine. Our users fall asleep or get back to sleep 2.5 times faster on average.*. With Dodow, someone who normally takes 60 minutes to fall asleep will take no more than 25 – and will gain around hundred more hours of sleep per year. * Telephone and email survey of 300 Dodow users.
Turn on Dodow
Place Dodow within hands reach. Tap the touch-sensitive surface once for the 8-minute mode and twice for the 20-minute mode. Dodow projects a soft blue light* onto the ceiling. Open your eyes and watch the pulsing light. Gently synchronise your breathing with the light : breathe in when the light glows, breathe out when it goes. *Dodow’s soft blue light (brightness < 1 lux) allows your body to relax, without inhibiting melatonin production.
Slow your metabolism down
By synchronising your (abdominal) breathing with the pulsing light, Dodow progressively takes your breathing down from 11 to 6 breaths per minute. The (very) slow breathing rate, at the cardiac coherence rhythm, really slows down your metabolism.
Reduce your flow of thought
What’s more, concentrating on the pulsing halo on the ceiling has a hypnotic effect. You’ll keep your brain busy with an activity a lot less distracting and exciting than the thoughts that are keeping you awake.
